This work was done for a competition organized by the Bank of Estonia. The task of the competition was to design a silver coin on the theme of the city of Viljandi during the time of the Hanse.
The city is located in the southern part of Estonia, on the northern shore of Lake Viljandi. At the beginning of the XIV century, the city became a member of the Hansa and an important point in commerce, which led to the prosperity of the city.

On the obverse of the coin, I decided to depict a cog laden with goods, full speed sailing toward the city of Viljandi. On the back of the coin is the coat of arms of Estonia.
